The Burbank International Film Festival is very excited to present a special 45th Anniversary Screening of the original musical classic, “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” as part of the festivals family-friendly day of programming. It is also part of our “History of Cinema” program, which introduces classic studio films from a historical perspective, to inspire young audiences to develop and foster a deeper appreciation for the art of filmmaking.
“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” stars Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson, and Peter Ostrum and tells the story of Charlie, a kid from a poor family whose luck changes when he wins a golden ticket to a magical candy factory. He goes with his grandfather and together, they experience the adventure of a lifetime.
This is a special festival event. Free admission for anyone who comes to the screening dressed as a character from the film. There will also be a prize for “Best Costume”, and one lucky attendee will win a “Golden Ticket” for a special prize. There will also be a special “live” performance prior to the show by musical artist, Daniel Sugimoto.

FANS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD ARE INVITED TO SEND IN THEIR PICTURES OF THEMSELVES IN WONKA CHARACTER “FAN” COSTUMES AND WIN PRIZES.
BURBANK, Calif. — The Burbank International Film Festival will be hosting the exclusive 45th Anniversary screening of "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" on Saturday, September 10th at 1pm at the AMC Town Center 16 Theaters. Free admission for anyone who comes to the screening dressed as a character from the film. A prize will be given out for “Best Costume”, and one lucky attendee will win a “Golden Ticket” for a special prize. There will also be a "Wonka” Red Carpet with selected fans in attendance invited to pose for a team photo with dozens of other Willy Wonka characters, and an exclusive “live” performance prior to the show by musical artist, Daniel Sugimoto.
“We are extremely honored and excited to be screening this timeless classic that most children have never before seen on the big screen in a theatrical environment,” said Jeff Rector, Director of the Burbank International Film Festival, in a statement released today.
